A blue and pink pinwheel
Make Your Own Patriotic Pinwheel
Get into the patriotic spirit with this FUN project! Pinwheels are a perfect decoration for holidays like Memorial Day and the Fourth of July.
Steps:
Take a square piece of construction paper and fold it corner to corner so that it looks like a triangle.

Fold the triangle in half again so that you end up with a smaller triangle.

Unfold the paper so it looks like the original square.

Decorate both sides of the paper using markers, stickers, or glitter. (You could also use two pieces of paper and decorate one side of each. Place the undecorated sides together.)

Make a cut about halfway to the center point along each of the four folds.

Bend every other corner down to the center point, being careful not to crease the paper.

Place a pushpin through the center of the pinwheel and into the side of the pencil eraser. (Young children will require adult assistance with this step.)

Bring your pinwheel outside and enjoy!

You will need the following items for this project:
Construction paper
Scissors *
Pushpin
Unsharpened pencil with eraser

Glitter, stickers, or other decorating supplies

* Young children should use child-safe scissors.
